Reminder to Hold Annual General Meeting (AGM) and File AR (Annual Return) on Time
Companies due to hold AGMs in the coming months should take note of changes to the timelines for holding AGMs and filing of ARs following a legislative change to the Companies Act which took effect on 31 Aug 2018.
Listed companies with FYE ending on or after 31 Aug 2018 must now hold their AGM within four months after FYE and file the AR within five months after FYE, while all other companies must hold the AGM within six months after FYE and file the AR within seven months after the FYE.
Over 50 audit regulators from 10 countries met in Singapore for the 7th ASEAN Audit Regulators Group (AARG) Inspection Workshop. Hosted by ACRA, the workshop provided a platform for regulators in the region to exchange views on audit oversight systems, share practical experience and discuss initiatives to raise audit quality. The delegates came from the AARG member countries (Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore), China, Cambodia, Laos, Hong Kong, Japan, Philippines and Sri Lanka.
Corporate Registers Forum (CRF) Conference 2019

An ACRA delegation attended the annual international conference for corporate registers which was held in the Republic of North Macedonia. Representatives from 80 jurisdictions met to discuss the latest corporate registry developments and best practices. Leading the delegation was ACRA Chief Executive Mr Ong Khiaw Hong. At the conference, ACRA shared on recent data services initiatives such as the launch of API services which provide real time business information for businesses to create innovative digital solutions to meet business needs.
Choose a Special UEN (SUN) for your New Business
Setting up a new business and want to have a special Unique Entity Number (UEN) that is easy to remember? Entity owners can now choose, at a fee, a preferred UEN from a list of reserved UENs during entity incorporation/ registration or conversion. Those who do not wish to apply for a special UEN will continue to be issued with a free system-generated UEN.
