ACRA is pleased to announce the following enhancements to the Singapore Chartered Accountant Qualification (SCAQ) Programme:

1.     Increase in length of prior practical experience recognised under the Record of Practical Experience and Competence (RPEC)

Currently, SCAQ candidates are required to complete at least 3 years of practical work experience with an Accredited Training Organisation (ATO) as part of the Relevant Practice Experience Component (RPEC). Up to 12 months of work experience prior to the start of the SCAQ Programme may count towards this requirement.

To increase the accessibility of the SCAQ Programme and to provide greater recognition of prior work experience, the length of eligible work experience prior to the start of the programme has been increased from 12 months to 18 months.

More details about the practical experience requirements can be found here

2.     Enhance pathways to the SCAQ for Local Polytechnic Graduates

There will be an additional entry pathway for Local Polytechnic Graduates to enter the SCAQ Programme. With this enhancement, holders of a Local Polytechnic Diploma can now enrol into the examinations for the Foundation Programme modules.

In addition, Local Polytechnic Graduates may also be eligible for exemption from the Principles of Financial Reporting module in the Foundation Programme. This will apply to those who have completed the relevant modules in the Polytechnic and graduated in 2023 or later.

More information can be found here.

Both enhancements will come into effect on 29 November 2023.
