From 2 December 2019, personal information (i.e. names and residential addresses) of position holders filed with ACRA will be aligned with the data filed with the relevant government agency under the National Registration Act. With over 1 million records in ACRA’s database, the exercise will take place in phases and is expected to be completed by June 2020.
With the alignment of records, position holders will no longer need to update changes to their name or residential address with ACRA as updates made to the relevant agency under the National Registration Act will be automatically synced with ACRA’s records.
What position holders need to do
If you are a position holder and the name and residential address that you have lodged with ACRA is different from the name that you have registered with the relevant government agency under the National Registration Act, your name and address in ACRA’s records will be automatically updated to align with your name and address as reflected in your NRIC/FIN. No further action is required from you.
Position holders who are foreign citizens must continue to update any changes to their names or residential address (local or foreign) by filing a change in personal particulars of officers via BizFile+ portal.
Requirement to Ensure Personal Information is Updated under the National Registration Act
Position holders should note that if there are changes to their residential address, they must update the relevant agency under the National Registration Act within 14 days.
